Jazz Music in The Hague
Looking for a fun way to spend an evening? Well why not check out one of the many jazz pubs in The Hague? This city is buzzing with musical venues to discover. Read on and I will take you on a musical tour of The Hague!
Of all the jazz pubs in The Hague, Murphy’s Law is probably one of my favourites! With musical performances almost every night, you are bound to find something you like. From swing bands to jazz quartets, every night at Murphy’s will be a new musical experience. On every first Friday of the month, you can also enjoy some traditional Irish music! My first visit to Murphy’s Law was during their Irish evening. If you enjoy traditional Celtic melodies, I strongly recommend you to check this night out. With a house-brewed beer in hand and heart-warming tunes surrounding me, this evening was unforgettable.

De Gekke Geit
De Gekke Geit (literally translated to “Crazy Goat”) is rated as the best Jazz Pub in The Hague! As they like to put it, a visit to the Gekke Geit will be guaranteed to include some “Bad Ass Jazz”, blues and acoustic bands. Although the venue is rather small, that is what makes the pub that much more unique. At De Gekke Geit, you will be sharing your table with other spectators, who as the night progresses, will be singing and dancing to the music right alongside you. The intimacy and warm vibes are what make Gekke Geit such an unforgettable experience.
To keep updated on all performances, make sure to check out the Gekke Geit Facebook page. One of the upcoming evenings to look out for, is the Tropicalia’s Trio which will take place on 18 July. This Cuban-Brazilian dance night will include a hint of Bossa Nova and Samba mixed with a spicy note of Latin Jazz. This evening is the perfect way to kick off your summer vacation!
Another evening to add to your agenda is the Mr. Kicx Showcase on 20 July. For the entire evening, the Mr. Kicx band will be playing a mix of jazz, blues, soul, pop and funk music! What better way to end your week than with a Friday evening immersed in music?
Another awesome venue to check out for live music is Pavlov. Although I have not been there yet, I have heard a lot of great feedback! Situated in a national monument on the Spuiplein, Pavlov is conveniently located in the center of the city. With its beautiful outside terrace and delicious cuisine, Pavlov is the ideal location for a warm summer day.
Another great part about this restaurant is of course its live jazz! On Thursdays at 16:00, Pavlov opens its doors for an afternoon of music. A warm summer breeze, homemade cocktail in hand and rhythmical tunes… sounds like the perfect afternoon to me! To learn more about Pavlov, do not forget to check out their website!
